Madwinners "Unofficially" Sponsors Mystery Nascar Driver... Who's the Lucky Guy?
by Marc Brown - 02/21/2007
Here at Madwinners we thought long and hard before deciding which
NASCAR driver to "un-officially" sponsor. There's so many greats out there. Jimmy
Johnson, Tony Stewart, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Winners all of them.... But
we have enough winners around here. We want the underdog this year. We
want the guy no one else will take. The lovable loser. The guy who'll be lucky
to find the starting line much less the finish line. The guy who might as well change his last name to "betthefield". After studying the backgrounds of all the drivers expected to compete this year and spending countless hours teaching Al what NASCAR stood for, we have found the Ultimate Madwinners Nascar driver. (start annoying trumpet sounds now).
At fifty years old, he's one of the "elder statesman" of the sport- or an old fart who might drop dead of a heart attack on pit row. He's the middle child of a famous racing famly who's patriarch's name is synonymous with quality performance. As the middle child, we appreciate the fact that our driver probably got little attention and had to fight for food at the dinner table. He probably holds a grudge. He's probably nasty and resentful. We like that too. Also, HE'S NEVER WON A NASCAR RACE. At least as far as we could check, he's a no name guy from a big name family. His major "official" sponsor is the Miccosukee Indian Gaming resort and Casino (we think this might be Seminole for "Mike is Sucky"). But, most importantly we've chosen this man to represent our fine product because... he has a REALLY hot daughter who also races cars. His name you ask? Please welcome Madwinners' first "unofficial" Nascar driver Mr. MIKE WALLACE!
(Marc Brown conducted the first telephone interview with Mr. Wallace. Here is the transcribed conversation)
Marc- (on phone) Mike Wallace?
Mike- (on phone) Uh, yeah.
Marc- This is Marc Brown from Madwinners.com.
Mike- How did you get my phone number?
Marc- Oh, um, I think the more important question Mike, oh and by the way we love the fact that you share a name with one of the most respected voices in all of journalism.
Mike- Who is this?
Marc- We just wanted to let you know that Madwinners.com would love to be your "un-official" sponsor for this year's NASCAR racing season.
Mike- Mad what?
Marc- Madwinners.com. (click) Mike? Mike you there? (pause)... Is Chrissy around by any chance?
UPDATE--
WALLACE FINISHES FOURTH AT DAYTONA
A fourth place finish at The Daytona 500 has the Madwinners staff whooping it up. In a race that saw Tony Stewart (3-2 odds to win) finish dead last, Mikey managed to fight his way to a fourth place finish. That's good news for Al and the gang.
"We knew we backed the right guy when we chose Wallace" says Madwinners president and CEO Al Price. "He has the driving skills, the experience and that hot daughter of his. We're excited about the rest of the NASCAR season."
In fact, Al's so excited about Wallace's finish, he's been walking around the office making "vroom, vroom" car sounds ever since.
